Serving the Medically Underserved
Bridging the gap between need and access
Traditions Acupuncture Foundation focuses on supporting our diverse local community. We recognize that Chinese medical care is not accessible to all — and our Haywood Street Congregation partnership helps bridge the gap between need and access.
Our Mission
Care that reaches everyone
This internship is essential, as it helps to educate interns in the concerns of the medically underserved. It is our hope that they will carry these skills into the communities each will serve in the future.
Haywood Community Clinic
A free clinic, every Wednesday morning
We are proud to sponsor Daoist Traditions College's partnership with Haywood Street Ministries in treating the medically underserved population of Asheville. Through the offsite clinic at the Haywood Street Congregation in downtown Asheville, Daoist Traditions interns regularly treat 15–20 unhoused community members each week.
Since 2013, our interns have offered free acupuncture every Wednesday morning, while Haywood Street Congregation offers day-to-day care including meals, hot coffee, free haircuts, and essential supplies.
